HOW DISTANCE LEARNING WORKS AT HALTON CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE

How Long Do I have To Complete The Correspondence Course?
Although we encourage the correspondence student to enjoy personnel surrounding and to work at their own pace, it is important to mention that the time allotted for correspondence studies is very much like that at the college level. It is the correspondence students responsibility to manage their time inline with a typical thirteen week college semester. Typically, our courses run in three hour sessions for thirteen weeks at local community colleges. For a complete list of colleges in your area that offer HCI Gold Seal Certified Construction Courses, follow the link provided on this page or click here.

How Do I Register?
To register for an HCI correspondence course simply read through our course descriptions then go to our registration page link provided above or click here. Once you have reached the registration page, choose the desired course or materials you wish to purchase, fill in the quantity box and click submit. You will then be brought to our secured merchant providers page which will take your shipping and credit card information and confirm your order.

What's Next?
Once you have received your correspondence course materials in the mail, read the information and instructions provided with your course material. Write your name and the date on the inside cover of your course manual and contact HCI by email at info@goldsealcourses.com this will mark your start time for the course. Included in the instructions of your course material are suggested timeframes that you should contact HCI for scheduling your midterm exam if applicable to the program. Once HCI receives a receipt of materials confirmation from the correspondence student, the students name is entered into a database that tracks the students progress from the entered start date, and shows an approximate midterm date and completion date. This system does not notify the student should they fall behind schedule, it is the students responsibility to contact HCI and to finish the program on time.

Are There Time Limitations?
Remember, there are no restrictions for the student who wishes to finish the correspondence course material in record time as long as all topics are thoroughly understood, and that all exams and submittals are successfully completed and received within an acceptable period.

What If I Need Extra Time?
We understand that many correspondence students work and have very busy life schedules. If other commitments are keeping you from completing the correspondence course within the thirteen week period; simply contact HCI by phone or email to discuss a course of action. However, HCI is not responsible for tracking student activity that exceeds the thirteen week period for more than twenty-two weeks. What this means is that after twenty-two weeks the students is considered to be delinquent and/or incomplete in the course. Once an incomplete or fail level is achieved, the student must pay a reinstatement fee of $125.00 to complete the course.

How Do I Schedule An Exam?
The student is responsible for Contacting HCI by email to schedule an appointment to take each test. Tests are emailed to the student who is allowed two and a half hours (2.5-hours) to complete the text and return via email. Test scores are generally returned to the student within five days after receipt. Alternate methods of correspondence are facsimile and postal service. These services however will have to be setup prior to initiation of the program.
